let us demonstrate the sublimation by taking the example of Ammonium chloride.
In China dish , Take a Small amount of the Substance. The dish is covered by a perforated sheet. A glass funnel in the inverted position is placed over the dish so as to cover it. The steam of the funnel is plugged with cotton. The dish is heated from below.

As a result, ammonium chloride undergoes sublimation i.e :- it changes into vapours which pass through the holes or perforations of the perforated sheet. The vapours get cooled in the upper portion of the funnel and change to the solid form. The latter gets deposited on the inner walls of the funnel and can be suitably removed later on. The cotton plug does not allow any vapours of the Substance to escape.

1) On a burner, keep a china dish and add ammonium chloride to it

2) Take a funnel and invert it on the top of the china dish.sr

3) Keep a cotton plug of the top of the funnel so that there will be no space for the ammonium chloride to get evaporated and mix into air.

Activity:

Take some solid Ammonium Chloride in a test tube and heat it gently.

You will observe that solid changes into vapours .

When the vapours touches the upper cooler part of the test tube it changes into solid Ammonium Chloride .

CONCLUSION:

This shows that no new substances formed, only the state changes directly from solid to gas. But when the vapour is cooled , it again changes into original substance , that means the change is temporary and reversible .
